Hi all,

I currently have a Gigabyte z68xp-ud3p on the f7 bios. I have also tried the u1g bios and have the same problems. Basically I struggle to get more than 4.3Ghz stable, and the most annoying thing, my computer will sometimes refuse to post after a reboot. It's a known issue with this board and is a lot better with the newer bios. But When you are overclocking .... You are always restarting and going into the the bios. And everytime I do that after the pc crashes it will refuse to post etc. I have to go through a lengthy process to get it to post. So it makes overclocking and tweaking PAINFUL!!!

Now my options are as follows .... get a much better board and see how far I can take this 2500k ... Or just abandon sandy. Which for the most part is fine for my 970. I just want some more cpu power for certain games.

Can anyone suggest a good replacement?

Andy

Basically I want a new board or a complete upgrade...

what are the best 1155 overclocking boards?

This is a tricky one as you could get a second hand board and find yourself in the same postion, im not sure it worth pursuing as the cost of a decent Z77 motherboard is like new prices.

A full upgrade gonna cost you between £350- £450 mobo, cpu, ram

Yea that's what I was thinking... Thanks for the reply. What is the best path these days? (Intel - AMD?)

Amd has released ryzen cpu line up which is now compiting with intel very closley so its best to read some reviews on the Ryzen cpu's. Intel have a slight advantage on higher framerates but Ryzen has better low framerates so potentially less stutter in games.

Think i mite take a punt at AMD Ryzen set up, soemthing like this which comes with a cpu cooler but for overclcoking i would get a better cpu cooler. The 1600 should overclock to 1600x speeds making it a wise buy imo.

Heres a review but check out more reviews.
