I tend to agree with JonJ678. Your better off looking for another higher clocked AM2 CPU. That X2 4000 will be a challenge to improve the current performance , even with the best clockable motherboard. How about a second hand X2 6000 or something along those lines. ?? You would want to be around the 3ghz mark for a worthy performance increase.

Does your processor support powernow? It could be dynamically clocking the processor down to cool it during periods of no usage.
done abit of fiddling and my power options will sort it out but seems to have no proformance boost wile playing my game so im leaving it
iv looked on e-bay for a 6000+ but i duno whats a good price to pay for a 2nd hand cpu ? and were is a good place to get one coss i dont really trust e-bay

I had one of these chips, back in the day....
The Brisbane CPUs were very good clockers and one of the more early 65nm AMD CPUs
With the correct combo of motherboard, cooler & ram these CPUs can get upto 3GHz, I'm fairly sure I did with mine (will see if I can dig an old screenie out tomorrow night)
I'm not sure how well your motherboard clocks but it should be ok to get your CPU at least around the 2.6 - 2.8GHz area.. Which Ram are you using speed wise?
The CPU is downloading due to power saving, its most likly windows 7 doing this and becuase you have AMDs Power saving enabled in the bios, disable one of the other, settings the OS to High Performance in the power saving options within control panel is most likly the easiest.
