overclock or more ram?

yer i agree with that, im down to 3.2ghz but 200x16 so i keep my ram at 1600mhz. seems to be stable so far for about 2 hours. (assuming that multiplier is ok?)

my qpi is still 1.25v is that ok as it is or do i need to bring that back down to stock?

thanks

In general voltages should be as low as possible whilst maintaining stability. This keeps temperatures down. The only way to find the right voltage is to try changing in small increments. Try lowering the VTT a little and see if it's stable. Rinse and repeat until you find the limit. You should do the same with the core voltage as well.

well surprise surprise the last one wasnt stable either, lastest the longest though.

here are my current settings that have lasted 5 hours and seem stable, the ram is at 1333mhz while the cpu clock is higher than the last so im wondering if its crashing due to the ram being at 1600mhz?

Could be, especially as your BSOD's are memory related. If you have the right memory dividers, see how far you can go with the RAM underclocked.

always work on one component at a time, make the RAM a nonissue by setting it as low as you can at the specified running voltage.

You mobo should be able to run at 180blk 10xmulti, remember to turn off any speed boosts/cool and quiet settings.

turbo. speed step and the cool and quite settings were all off, well last night my pc would crash every 5 minutes, i.e, screen would go black and say no signal, fans would come on full wack for a few seconds and it would only switch off by switching the psu off. tried various settings, some of which were stable in the past for days on end like 3.2ghz with ram at 1333mhz and the same would happen after 5 minutes, i even put everything back to stock and the same happend, im now at 166x19 giving 3.15ghz, ram at 1333mhz and seems ok, voltage back to auto aswell.

however, a friend had a look at my event logs and he seems to think i have a virus of some sort and that my operating system is corrupted so when iv got a spare hour or so il back everything up and do a clean install.

quite confused really, i suspected it could have been that my board was too basic and couldnt handle the overclock but after reading it seems the board i have is fine for 4ghz.
