Overclock or upgrade to game at 1440p

Current Build:

I am wanting to get a 1440p 75/144hz monitor to game on & am wondering whether my current build is up to it, would overclocking my CPU help me (never overclocked before) or what would you suggest I upgrade for me to be able to take advantage of 1440p gaming, if is worth it over 1080p/144hz?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated; currently playing mostly The Division 2 so want to enjoy it at a higher res/refresh rate plus need a bigger screen for work & would want to get a more future proof monitor.

The above system is more than capable of 1440p, however i personally would stick to 1080p144hz. But that really is personal choosing.

1440p, can then swap to 1080p if you wanted to with settings. Also less stress on CPU , though if overclocked to 4.5ghz should be fine with 1080p

Thanks for the advice, I’ve read that downscaling to 1080p on a 1440p monitor looks terrible though?

From experience some do and some don't. I would do a bit of research on the monitor your looking at in particular.
