overclock problem

hi guys iam new to this site and hoping someone can help, my system specs are

antec 300 case
Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz
motherboard gigabyte p55-usb3
Corsair XMS3 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
2x Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 running crossfire
corsair cw600 psu
corsair h50 cooler +2 120mm front cooling fans
ocz ssd 120gb

PROBLEM
after using smartboost to overclock from stock at 2.80 to first stage at 2.98 the clock drops to 2.55 everything is stable but clock drops for no reason this has only happen since crossfire thanks for any help

Not used to Gigabyte boards... Is the Smartbboost an app used in windows ??? Is it not speedstep kicking in when the cpu isn't doing much ??

hi thanks for your reply the smartboost is part of the motherboard programs

when i check in the system file in control panel at stock its showing 2.80. but then when i overclock with smartboost to 2.98 and reboot pc it shows in system it has dropped to 2.55 this has only happend since ive done the crossfire

UPDATE ive clearcmos and put bios back to default but still getting the same problem with smartboost when trying to overclock could this be a problem due to crossfiring
