Overclock query on 2500k

when you over clock your bios will remove the stem down, because not all systems/overclocks will work with the step down

speedstep will help it to run cooler when not useing lots of power but running at full speed dose not mean your system is running 100% load.

it's fine what ever you do. lot's of system are not stable when speedstep is on under an over clock

Ok - Good stuff.

I've also upped my overclock to 5GHz. After running IBT on maximum, the max average temperature was 70 degrees with max volts of 1.368V.

Is this ok? - considering that most of the time i'll just be gaming and the volts/temps will be lower

That's good.

Make sure you run OCCT(Linpack) or Prime for 2-4 hours to check overall stability.

Ok - I got BSOD after around 2.5hrs of Prime.

If my overclock is safe under the max settings on IBT but crashes in Prime, what's the worst that could happen during normal day to day use?

Thanks.

From memory, it was a 101 error. From what I can tell this means more vcore is needed.

But, just to pass a second stress test, I don't think i'll bother. Might just wind the overclock back down to 4.8GHz, which should be plenty anyway. I can always go back up to 5GHz in a few years if neccessary.
