I was in the middle of picking bits for a pc I'm building for a mate and I was just wondering does the 2300 have an "unlocked" multiplier which is restricted to only a few mhz?

Thought I saw something like that around launch but I can't find anything about it and can't remember.

I know the K series are the "true" unlocked chips but I thought non K series can change the multiplier but is more restricted, I spose thats what I'm trying to say.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you for you're responses in advance. ;)

With a P67/Z68 motherboard I imagine you'll be able to use the turbo multipliers for 3.1ghz, beyond that you'll need to use BCLK though. I'm not sure about H67 but I wouldn't be surprised if there's no multiplier option at all.

I believe the cpu's which have turbo boost you can increase the multiplier to the max turbo speed, which the i5 range has, but I am not 100% if this will work on non H61 / H67 boards.
