Hi guys.
Can some advise me on this.
i7-2600k
sabertooth p67
2x4gig sheiled ram
800w psu
gtx 470/260

Ok ive tried an over clock at 4.5ghz and just cant get it stable. Windows loads but just will not run prime95. BCLK/PEG Frequency set to 100.0. Vcore ive had upto 1.350v and still not stable.
I got the ump with it in the end and then tried 4.4ghz. BCLK/PEG Frequency set to 100.0 and Vcore started at 1.25v and kept upping till got prime to test, eventually on 3.40v. I found any lower Vcore prime would not run. After running test i got fails but no errors so i upped Vcore 3.45-3.50 but still i keep getting failiers on prime.
i dont really want to increase Vcore much more as i hear this aint good so why am i keep getting errors?
am i doing somthing wrong here or will this set up not overclock that high
Thanks
Dave

Wait, wait, 3.4v Vcore? You're not meant to go over 1.37!

What temps is the 2600K reaching? Are you running the RAM on 1333mhz, 1.5v to rule that out?

sorry mate my mistake 1.34v.
I had it yesturday at 1.36v and still getting errors. there must be somthing else causing this it cant be voltages as 1.36v surly is near the limit.
Do you have any ideas what can be causing these errors.

Cheap and nasty RAM that I've never heard the make off, I'd probably suggest thats the reason your overclocks not stable.

Do you not have any other to try?

What's the fastest overclock you have got stable, and what were the voltages used for it?

Your OP suggests you jumped right in at 4.5ghz, but surely not, as that would mean you hadn't bothered to read anything...
