Overclocked bundle query

I have installed an overclocked bundle http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-038-OB&groupid=43&catid=339&subcat= . How can i tell if it has been overclocked to 3.8 ghz? In windows it only says 2.8 ghz. I have looked in the bios but I am not sure what I am looking at?

Get CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

That will tell you what speed it is running at

If the multiplier fluctuates don't worry this is Intel Speedstep.

Running windows index score stuff, will change what it states in the system info page in system properties. If you really want to show the full speed. But thats all personal choice really.

As freak said check cpu-z, load something up that you know will stress the cpu, and see if the multiplyer and/or speed increases.

I ran the windows index program and the core speed jumped from 1087.0 MHZ to 3808.0 Mhz. So am I right in saying it has been overclocked to 3.8?

right what you need to do is go into the bios and find step do and disable this.

should have been told when you bought the bundle. i bought a bundle a month ago and had the same problem, your multiplier is going from 21 to 12 or something similar i imaging.

once you have disabled the step do in bios it will stick to the higher frequency.

I would not worry about disabling speedstep, if you do, see my thread in my reply above.

Ok so all seem well, I will leave speed step on (cool and quiet) on my gigabyte motherboard, not to bothered about seeing 3.8 in windows. Just so long as it kicks in when playing games.

Massive issue imo with OCUK bundles, they need to put a note in with them to advise on wtf is going on, not good enough to just assume.

Eh? The bundle stated 3.8GHz and that's exactly what the OP got. Why should OCuK have to explain something as simple as Speedstep?

OcUK support and delivery is second to none in my opinion.
