hey guys im building a new pc for myself just got a few questions and your help would be gratefully appreciated.

1 how hard is it to overclock?
so do I buy a overclocked bundle or buy the components separate and do it myself?

2 im going to have an i5 cpu overclocked and a midrange graphics card what kind of power supply should I be looking for? i.e. what kind of power?

many thanks for your advice in advance?

well my budget is 100 pounds for a motherboard and its going to be overclocked so any ideas? thanks

I'd advise taking a look at some of the B-Grade items in clearance, I got a board from there and it came with everything and then box had never been open as it still had its plastic seal on :)

Personally I would advise against this for the simple reason that you only get a 3 month warranty as opposed to a 3 year+ warranty. Motherboards are not the most common component to break, but it would give you a little more peace of mind at least. My motherboard has no warranty because I voided it. (it hurts :p)

However if you did choose to buy from B grade, there is a Z77X-UD3H in there for £80. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-305-GI&groupid=595&catid=689&subcat=

MSI Z77A-G45 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) what about this one for 84? any good?

If you want to buy a brand new (non B-grade) motherboard for under £100, get the one I linked before. It is widely considered the best motherboard in the price range, and look at all those awards!

Otherwise if you want a better motherboard for similar money, and don't mind buying from B-grade, the Z77X-UD3H would be a cracking purchase.

Note that the first board linked above, and either of the sub £90 motherboards you have mentioned, would be no good for SLI or Crossfire-X. So if at any point in the future you plan on adding a second graphics card to your system, I recommend either getting that Z77X-UD3H from B grade, or this Z77X-D3H if you do not want to buy from B grade.

If you plan on sticking to one GPU at a time, the first would be fine.

These are the motherboards which are most frequently recommended round these parts (particularly the Z77-D3H) because they offer a fantastic feature set for the price.

ok cheers just brought the b grade z77 x thanks for your advice any advice on what power supply I need?

You don't hang about do ya :p

We would need to know the rest of your proposed spec before we can recommend a power supply.

What graphics card do you plan on fitting, and have you got any intentions of buying a second one to go alongside it in the future?

I would strongly advise waiting for an array of opinions before committing to buy, generally we will have very similar ideas as to what parts would be best for your needs, and most of us know what we are talking about, but it's always good to read an array of views first so you know that the advice you are being given is reliable :)

It might also be a good idea to create another thread in this section with a title like "spec me a system for £XXX" and then state your basic needs, what you want from the system, and any components (such as the Z77X-UD3H) that you already own. That way we can spec some well rounded systems with your budget in mind :)

Also it is a good idea to buy the components together to save on postage.

As I stated above:
