Hi,
I am in the process of researching a new PC build. Years ago when I built our last PC I went for a good chat with the staff. This was before the business moved to the new premises. There does not appear to be much info on the website about the shop, is it worth a trip to have a look at cases etc and chat about the components?
Thank you,

Peter

Thank you for the reply.
However, does the shop have cases etc on display and are the staff helpful in advising about components. There are loads of really great people on here but my 12 year old son really wants to go and see the pieces in person as he is getting into this fascinating hobby.

Thanks,
Peter

Ahh in that case i have no clue it would be better ringing them up or waiting for an admin or some1 who has been too reply Here is the address so you can work out the distance so on

The new place is nice, and the team are always there to give advice on parts, there is a nice array of parts on display now, watch out the sweet talking ginger man behind the counter is one of the best at re-leaving you of lots of monies.

OK, thanks for the directions. I have to go up to Manchester from Birmingham next weekend and so it would not be too far out of our way.
So from what you are saying, it would be worth the visit?

Peter

There isn't that much on display in the shop.

Mainly a cabinet of Gigabyte motherboards and a cabinet with a selection of graphics cards, RAM and other bits and pieces.

I'm sure they'll be happy to talk to you about components but there isn't much to see especially if you want to look at cases.

Wow considering ocuk is owned by kase king im shocked there isnt a big case display

As Surveyor pointed out, they have motherboards/ram/graphics card/sound cards out in a glass cabinet.
An not a wide collection on show for the huge amount of brands they sell, there's a custom built rig on the right when you go in the shop an a touch screen pc that's roughly it, oh an big counter with some one always there smiling waiting to take your cash lol.
I'd say ask on the forums or ring them direct for any sales or tech help if unsure, save your cash spent on petrol an put it towards your build.
An don't forget the free shipping for valid members :D

Cases are one of the largest components of a PC and considering most of their business is done online, where stock levels and prices are most critical, im not really surprised they dont have them on display

tbh i was surprised they had anything on display, i thought the "shop" was just like going into a factory/ commercial warehouse

The best advice I can give is to get your 12-year old son into sports, or at least more social hobbies. I was a 12-year old who got into PC overclocking and upgrading and over the next years spent a lot of time and money (hundreds or even thousands yearly) on it, and i'd say it definitely hinders your social development to varying degrees (it encourages staying in your room alone to ply and tinker), as well as puts you at big risk of contracting RSI by your 20's from all the keyboard and mouse use that resulted from the inevitable gaming.

I'm not saying computers aren't a great thing to be into, I love them and skills with them are critical nowdays, but think twice before getting your 12-year old into this kind of hobby so young... as it can become a driving force regardless of initial intentions.

Why can't people just let kids be kids, nowa days all you ever hear people say get em off the console/pc an get em out side enjoying the sun!
Bah there kids let them have the life an past time they want as long as they aren't brreaking the law.
I'd rather my kids enjoy them selfs in there own activities of choice than force them do some thing different that they don't want to do.

The Haribos are still on the counter Surveyor lol, an come to think of it over the past couple of weeks ive brought a new rig minus the Cpu an i never got any sweets :( lol

"Kids being kids" is not being on the computer/console alone for hours each day (which is all too common nowadays)... that's something which at a young age should be limited and monitored. It's not healthy, and it's something which any parent should be wary of the consequences of (and usually isn't despite what they say). However, each to their own and all that... though i'm sure the OP will find out himself in a few years. :p

With my last 3 orders I received a grand total of 1 bag of Haribo.

Based on what some people have received I've worked out I should have received 63 bags :(

Sorry but with every thing that's been on the news an in local papers the last couple of years i would rather have my kids safe and knowing where they are, but that's just me an for a different topic ;)

Surveyor we should get a picket line up out side Ocuk demanding are Haribo's lol :D
