pheumonic :P

go into the BIOS disable CIE/Speedstep

what does this mean?

i currently have a p31 gigabyte and q6600 @ 3.2ghz at 1.3volts

what are these options exactly :( i dunno all the slang yet :P

i have a option in bios that says standard, turbo or extreme for overclocking

it says standard helps provide stability, but others = better oc

mines on turbo, should i turn off?

and when in cpuz, my mhz goes from 3200 to 2xxx bcoz it changes from

9x to 6x

whats thats?==?

Basically it means that if your CPU is a 2.4GHz chip at normal stock speeds, with this feature enabled, it will automatically reduce its clock speed to save on energy consumption if you are only arsing about in word or browsing the internet.

It will ramp itself up to full speed when multitasking or running a demanding application e.g Crysis.

omgawd!

and now its at 6 x 356 = 2136mhz

whys it doing this >.< i dont have cie or speedstep in my bios

its C1E and the other thing to disable is EIST or E1ST, i cant remember off the top of my head if you want to disable speedstep

enter BIOS
Hold CTRL and press F1

advanced BIOS settings should now be revealed :)

it worked :)

now got Cpu at constant 3.2ghz and memory at 1:1 and timings 4-4-4-15 (356) to match fsb

Default memory on website =

800MHz DDR2
- CL 4-4-4-15 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
- Patent-pending Reaper HPC Heatsink
- OCZ Lifetime Warranty
- 2.1 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM
- OCZ Enhanced Latency Technology
- 2.2V EVP**

but my memory is set at default at bios , how much do i need to increase this by if any?

p.s thanks jak and andy

p.s im gona try 3.4 or 3.6 2nite while asleep and priming to see what i can get

is it safe to keep cpu volt at 1.5 24/7 idle and gaming etc

as long as temps dont soar to above 70?

Well intel state max CPU volts as 1.35 on the Q6600 so 1.5 is a little risky.

You'll likely to be pulling close on 200w which will seriously stress the voltage regs on the gigabyte p31

If it's the same board I have (DS3L) then the regs don't look all that substantial so I'd keep the CPU voltage below 1.4

ok decto

i'm gonna prime 3.6 at 1.35 tonite on blend option

hopefully tomorrow no crash and temps below 70c

wish me luck :D

why disable speedstep? as long as it sticks multiply back to what its meant to be when the going gets tough surly the power saved is good? and you arnt loosing out? ok i know its annoying when yer looking at CPU-Z.....but isnt it better to just leave it on?
