Overclocking 1055T Issues

Hello guys, I have been wanting to overclock my AMD 1055T X6 from its stock clocking of 2.8GHz to a comfortable 3.8GHz (using stock cooling).

I have tried several times unsuccessfully to overclock it using my BIOS on my Asus M4A78LT-M; using the jumperfree utility.

I used a core clock of 272 and the maximum multiplier of 14, I disabled CIe or whatever, and AMD Turbo core. I was trying to run it at stock voltage, as I have heard this is totally fine, and advisable.

I have successfully used the Asus Overclock profile to get it to 3.08GHz (+10%), which is stable but not enough.

There are a good few settings which I have not fiddled with, including CPU/NB which means nothing to me (northbridge?).

Any help would be fantastic, and if somebody helps me achieve my goal I will get eternally grateful.

What motherboard and ram are you using?

I run 3.5GHz 24/7 OC but it will go to 3.87GHz (TRUE 120 HSF)
14 x 250 CPU = 3500MHz
6.66 x 250 ram = 1667MHz (1600MHz ram)
8 x 250 Ht and NB = 2000MHz (stock)
max vcore 1.4V ram voltage ~1.6V

3.8 on stock cooling seems too high, run HWmonitor when testing with prime. Do not exceed 62C as a CPU temperature (not core temp), in fact it's safer at 55C under load.

As I said before, I am using an Asus M4A78LT-M, and I am using some crucial 1333MHz DDR3 (cheap stuff).

So what process would I go through to get it to 3.5 then? I can post a picture of the jumperfree utility if that helps, as I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Set CPU overclocking to manual

Set CPU/HT reference clock to 220 initially
Set PCIE clock to 100
Set processor frequency multiplier to x14
Set CPU/NB frequency to 8x
Set CPU voltage to about 1.4V maximum
Set HT Link frequency to 1800MHz initially, increase to 2000 after overclocking the CPU to your preferred level.
Set memory clock mode to manual
Set memclock value to 667MHz
Set memory overvoltage to 1.6V or whatever it says on label

If this works it gets you 14 x 220 or 3.08GHz
increasing the reference clock in steps up to 250MHz will get 3.5GHz

Make sure you can get into windows at each stage, run HWmonitor and CPU-Z and prime 95 together to check temperatures, frequencies of ram and cpu and stress the system. Try to stay below about 55C on the CPU temperature.

Thanks for the replies, I've tried it again, using the settings you suggested, and the problem remains the same, yet when I use the overclocking profile, it works perfectly.
What is the profile doing that I'm not?
Again, I can supply pictures if that will help.
