Overclocking AMD 6630M

I have a Lenovo Edge e520 and play FIFA 15 on it whilst the Mrs watches her TV shows.

It runs OK but I would like it to be smoother. I downloaded Saphire Trixxx which picks up the card but when I try the slightest overclock I get that blue screen and Windows 8 restarts my Laptop.

MSI Afterburner doesn't even see the card. Standard clocks are 445/800 and some report they can get 700/900!

Did the old Afterburner trick where you disable ULPS in the registry then change the cfg file EULA agreement. Now I can overclock to 590/900 :D

My 3dMark Cloud Gate score went from 3834 to 5192! However when playing FIFA 15 on the new clocks the game stutters really badly from the "EA Sports, it's in the game" screen. The FPS counter shows 0.0. What could be causing this?

drivers maybe?

Could be but I can't use ones direct from AMD due the Lenovo laptop being locked down somehow. I have to use drivers provided by Lenovo which are really old.

I'll try them tomorrow, but in the past I've tried drivers direct from AMD and they don't work. I think it's due to the fact I have dual GPU configuration. An Intel 3000 and the AMD 6630m

Tried them drivers but the install complains I don't have a compatible graphics card. I then tried disabling the Intel HD 3000 card thinking that will bypass the whole dual graphics card element but still no luck. There has to be a way around this, I can't imagine Lenovo would stop releasing drivers knowing you can't get them from anywhere else!

Yep tried that but I can only disable the Intel one on the bios which isn't the one causing me the problem. I went in safe mode and unjnstall the drivers and put the old ones back on. Still have stuttering issues with the slightest of overclock.

Formatted and installed Windows 7 Pro instead. Spent ages updating drivers using Think Vantage and Windows Update. Installed MSI Afterburner 4.0 and did the unofficial overclock mod. Now I can overclock and FIFA 15 plays much better, surprised how high I can clock this GPU (currently 700/900 from 485/800).

Later realised the AMD Power Xpress drivers don't work well with Windows 8.0 but do 8.1 that's why I was having issues.
