hey guys, this is my first post but been reading around for a while. Hoping some one can give me a little bit of help.

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7
i7 930
Patriot Viper (3x2GB) 1600MHz
2x EVGA GeForce GTX 470 Hydro Copper in sli
Corsair HX 1000W

EK high flow block for the cpu
EK full mother board block
Onto a tipple 120 rad in push/pull

2x470s on its own loop with a quad 120 rad in push pull also.

I thought i had a stable 4ghz over clock but when i boot up in the morning it reverts back to stock after a few failed attempts. Have updated to the latest F7 Bios but it is still the same. If i then restart i can enter my settings again and it boots fine. it is prime stable for 3 hours as that is as long as i have run it.

Also i cant seem to get my over clock above 4ghz with out 1.4 volts? I was flowing a guide and isolated the multiplier from the block, I know its stable with a block of 200 on a 12 multiplier and the ram is also stable at 200x12 so should run fine at 4.2 with the right vcore?

Thanks Aaron,

These chips seem very sensitive to the QPI/DRAM (or VTT) voltage as well. Not sure what your gigabyte boards calls this setting.

With my 930 i found i could keep increasing one of the settings vcore or qpi to sky high levels and it wouldnt be stable, it was finding the right balance of both of them.

As for the cold boot resetting problem, sorry dont know about that, maybe dud cmos battery? long shot.

Yes, Think i have a stable 4ghz but it wont boot from cold. fine when the comp has been on for 5 mins. Its all brand new parts so don't think its a dud battery as all the settings are still in the bios.

You will need to run Prime blend for more then 3 hours really im afraid, annoying i know but you need to leave it for a good 8+ hours really.

About the cold boots, my overclock is 24+ hours prime stable, and F@H stable, and even i can get cold boot issues at times generally if i hav'nt used the comp for abit (but not all the time though its very random), all i do is ignore it, re-apply the saved profile and off i go again.

So personally i would make sure to run prime for a good length of time, say over night or something, and once you know the overclock is stable, just ignore the cold boots when they happen and re-apply saved profile.

i get the same thing with my ud7 - only on very rare occasions does it decide it won't boot, so have to enter bios then f10, reboot etc.

think you'll just have to wait until the iron it out in a later bios tbh, although i have to say the most stable bios i've found (and didn't have as often cold boot problems) was the f3.

i'm on f6 atm but i think i'm going to revert back as the f3 worked so much better for me
