When I get my computer at Christmas, I'd like to overclock the CPU, to get the best from the Q6600.

Spec:

ASRock 4Core1333 GLan Motherboard (Know nothing about it)
Intel Quad Core 6600 @ 2.4 Ghz
4GB (2X2GB) PC6400 DDR2 Ram 800Mhz
Nvidia 512MB 9600GT
Seagate 320GB Hard-Drive @ 7200 RPM.
Arctic 7 Pro Freezer Cooler (Since I can't remember the name, that'll have to do, I'm sure you know what I mean! :) )

Bear in mind I haven't got any experience of overclocking. Realistically, what is the best I can get out of the CPU?

well then youve got loads of time to read up and learn all you need to know, maybe start with http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17612922 ?

With that cooler and ram, 3.2Ghz would be the sweet spot. 400FSB with a Multiplier of 8. that way your ram will be running at its designed speed.
Though you might have to keep an eye on temps, and you will have to increase the voltage for the CPU a little bit to get it stable.(nothing too scary i promise)

And click through a few pages, there are loads and loads of Q6600 overclocking threads to give you ideas.

i wouldnt worry to much about your mobo. your not going to be overclocking to any extreme levels so your mobo shouldnt be a limiting factor.

Ah well that's alright, has been playing on my mind quite a lot. Will 3.2 be enough to play games at a decent speed? I don't have Crysis or any of the newest demanding games on the market, but I might be tempted in the Christmas Sales. :)

Your graphics card(s) will be the important thing with regards to Crysis. But yes, 3.2 ghtz processor speed is fine for anything currently out IMO
