Overclocking CPU

Look's like Turbo is enabled as it says 8-44x multiplier. I think mines off as it goes straight to 4.4Ghz when loaded. It should go up to 4.4Ghz if you stick some load on it.

Thanks mate, in windows etc will it still show up as 3.4ghz? Nothing says 4.4 that I've seen? I assume it recognises the chip's default speed?

Looks like it's working, will play some BF4 to make sure it's running okay. What can I use to monitor temps and what should it be at ideally, in BIOS it's currently sat at 32c. Thanks for the help really appreciate it!

BF4 running smoothly, I've replied in my motherboard thread, if you wouldn't mind helping me tweak that, Pasty :)

Looking good then. Mine does have turbo enabled. Is yours clocking down at idle? To get the voltage to drop at idle you will need to change from a manual fixed voltage to offset voltage. I think mine has a offset of 0.065v but it will vary from cpu to cpu. You could try seeing if you can get anymore out of the cpu. Just increase the multiplier and vcore but keep a eye on load temps. If you are happy at 4.4Ghz you could try taking vcore down a notch at a time until it gets unstable. it should help with temps.

Have you clocked the cache yet?

I've literally copied your settings you advised earlier in th thread mate. Does anything else need changing? I'm
Happy with it at 4.4 whilst it's stable :)

Cpu and cache both at 4.4ghz? Cpu clocks down to 800mhz at idle but voltage remains constant? The voltage would need to go to offset to get it to drop at idle but I would see if you can lower the vcore a tad first. Your's might need a bit less than mine at 4.4Ghz.

It's double Dutch to me all of this but from CPU-Z it does clock
Down at idle. Do I definately need to adjust any settings now or is it okay as it is?

You can leave it as it is if you are happy but if you have set it using a fixed voltage it will stay at 1.265v even when the cpu drops to 800mhz. By setting the voltage as a offset when the speed drops the voltage will drop as well. I have got my whole pc down to 61w when idling/browsing the net so I get the best of both worlds.

Thanks mate what should the offset be set at?

It's going to vary from cpu to cpu but mine needs a offset of 0.065v. If you use that as a baseline then load it up in windows and see what the voltage hits in cpu-z. If it's too much or not enough, adjust accordingly until you hit the voltage you need for 4.4Ghz.

Hey mate,

Going to sort the offset out tonight, which one do I alter?

Thanks

CPU core voltage is what you want to set as a offset. If you change it from the manual mode you are on at the moment to Offset mode you should have a couple of new options open up.

Apart from having a extra 8Gb I doubt if that will be much, if at all, quicker than the Sammy greens properly tweaked at 2133mhz. I would have hunted down a second set of Sammy's but that's just me.
