Finally dumped my 939 setup for c2d! Got a great deal in a swap with a mate, looking to overclock this E6300 to the E6600 speeds :D my motherboard is EVGA 650i Ultra and RAM = Geil Black Dragon 2GB PC6400, I love my rig as it is makes such a difference, i'm still on stock cooler. Where shall I start? btw I am newbie to overclocking so no newbie suggestions, im just looking for people who have c2d experience for their sort of reccomendations on voltages etc

Without any alteration on voltage etc mate you should be able to hit 2.8Ghz no problem at all with your ram and mobo combo :) Set the FSB to 400Mhz and you should be sorted from there! If the system becomes unstable or anything raise the voltage slightly on the CPU or Mem whatever you think is causing the problem. I do it all through guess work raising the voltages when required and not pushing the ram up much more than 2.2v! I have hit 3.2Ghz stable no problem on my setup with the CPU @ 1.45V and the Ram @ 2.2V

I have my CPU set to default volts and my Ram Geil DDR2 @ 2.00V for 2.8Ghz at the moment

not forgetting to lock the pci-e to 100mhz of course ??

ive got mine at 3.4 now with 1,375 volts and my mem on 2.1 v am using the freezer 7,also my pci e is at 108 if have it 100 it not stable for me anyways.Never crashes temps idle at 38 and fullload 52.

EVGA 650i is one of the better 650i boards, you shouldnt have a problem getting to 2.8GHz, wouldnt require much vcore so chip will clock like that for as long as you need it! :)

nice swap buddy!!!
