Hi!

I recentley bought intel's budget cpu: the E6300 @ 2.8gHz. I have heard these overclock really well and would like to try for myself, however, I have never overclocked before. I would like to know if I would be able to overclock this CPU to a certain speed on what I already have (a case with a 14cm front fan and a small side fan and stock cpu fan, seems like pretty decent air cooling, so what do you think I could reach?). I would also like to know if I could take that speed further so what fan would you reccomend and what speed would you reccomend I take it up to?

Lastly, and pointers to any guides on overclocking for a beginner so when I have decided if I will keep what I have or buy a fan I can begin OC'ing?

Thanks!

Have a look at the top of this section for guides on overclocking.

I would invest in a better cpu heatsink if you want to overclock to a reasonable level and reasonable temps.

^ please reccomend one and what speed you think I could achieve if I used it

Good chips. I have one at 4Ghz in a MSI P45 Platinum. Like RJC says though, it depends on the rest of your components and the cpu that you have. No two are the same unfortunately.
