Hey guys, quick question please...

I was overclocking my e6600 (B2), 680i, Geil 6400ULL, Scythe Ninja revB +120mm last night and got to 2.85GHz with stock settings elsewhere.

The CPU cores were hitting 60 degrees (the room was quite warm) - this morning wih a slightly cooler room the temps are 46 degrees on each core.

Is this due to room temp, or has my heatsink paste settled in (just bog standard stuff), or is there another explanation?

Is 46 degrees a good temperature for this overclock?

[edit] this is whilst running prime 95 [\edit]

While you boffins are at it... what do you think my next steps should be? Up to 3GHz at stock settings?

Cheers,

M

I'm having a similar time as you in that I'm trying to get e6600/X38-DS5 stable as it was crashing /freezing at 3.2ghz. I've followed some advice here and tried some different settings and I'm now just about to start orthos at 3.4ghz (378 x 9) @ 1.385 Vcore. It might be an idea to drop your memory to well below its rated speed, (to around 360mhz I found a good starting point and actually lower the voltages too), I'm finding I can go a lot higher, more stable and with lower voltages by doing this. I don't know if this would apply to your mobo, but it certainly has a favourable impact on mine and I'd say deffo worth a try.:)
