Hi all ive managed to get my E6600 upto 2.7GHz so far. My Target is 3GHz. I noticed something on cpu-z though, my memory timings have gone up a notch. Cpu-z also indicates that DRAM:FSB ratio is 4:3.

The ram im using is 4GB Corsair XMS 2 6400 on an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard. Is there any way i could possibly get the ratio down to 1:1?

Thanks:)

Set the DRAM Frequency option to its lowest setting for 1:1 (probably 533mhz)

I Set the DRAM frequency to 601, that was all that was availible in the BIOS. Memory timings still the same though. Would i have to reconfigure those manually?

Thanks

Well 601mhz will be the current lowest setting as it's twice the FSB at 2.7ghz (300x2).

Is it the CAS5 XMS 2? If so then the timings are probably already set up OK (5-5-5-12).

Yes its the CAS 5 XMS 2 the lower latency ram from corsair. Would it better just setting it back to auto then in the BIOS?

Uploaded some screens of Cpu-z for you to take a look at.

Thanks

The SPD tab says that it's the CAS4 version, and if it is then 4-4-4-12 would be a better option.

3ghz will be 333x9, so even then your memory will be running under spec if you keep it on the lowest setting (666mhz). Knock it upto atleast the next highest ratio when you get to 3ghz (which really should be as simple as setting the FSB to 334mhz, without needing to touch any of the voltages, apart from setting the correct memory voltage).

Thanks m8 will try that now. So what about the memoey tab though doesnt the readings go off that or is it just the spd thats that more important? sorry to ask questions im a bit of a noob.

Thanks

SPD is the pre-programmed settings. They're there to tell the memory to originally boot at loose timings at 1.8v.

The Memory tab is just showing the current BIOS settings. It'll change whenever you change your BIOS settings.

Yeah i see what u mean. Still tweaking at the moment, but those memory timings under the memory tab dont seem to change meaning go lower even on a 1:1 Ratio. All voltages are set to auto in the bios. So basicly is the RAM using the BIOS timings or memory timings off SPD right now?

Thanks

Set the memory voltage to 2.1v.

If the timings are set to auto then they'll be loose (as the Memory tab shows). Manually set the timings to 4-4-4-12.

Just set the timings to 4-4-4-12 without touching the voltage. I dont realy want to touch the voltage just incase if i end up killing my hardware. All is ok so far but would it be ok to stick with auto voltage with the 4-4-4-12 timings?

Thanks

You'll need 2.1v to run that memory at its rated 800mhz and 4-4-4-12. It's designed to take 2.1v.

Just set the voltage to 2.1. According to Cpu-z my the freqency of my cpu is now 1.8GHz?

Thanks for your help by the way your realy good.

Ah right dont understand what those are? So basicly its still at 2.8GHz but only when its under load?

Thanks

Yeah it should jump upto full speed once load is applied. You can watch it happen in CPU-Z.

It's a powersaving feature.

Cool thats good. Any way it can be turned off? or cant it be, or is it just wise to leave as it is?

Il stop pestering you now lol, im off to work in a few mins lol

Thanks

Yeah you can disable it via the Enhanced C1 Control and Intel Speedstep Tech options in the BIOS.

But it's fine to leave it enabled.

Just one more thing m8, Its at 3.0Ghz (333 X 9) Memory is set to DDR 666 Which gives a 1:1 FSB-DRAM ratio. Thing is though im not using the ram to its full capacity even though its on a 1:1 ratio. Do you think i should just knock it up to 800Mhz its full capacity, would it work faster then?

Thanks
