i've built this new rig. i have overclocked it straight away but when i play 2 games on 1 boot it freezes and black screen appears (stand by monitor) or if i play 1 game for ages. i have tried all bios editing i can think off (ram timings, voltages, temps, cpu multiplier...). i once put everything on stock once and it went into a black standby screen when playing cod 4.

i have run memtest and intel burn and they both successfully complete but prime95 wont work for some reason, ddint work with my old rig either.

i know my GPU: HD 4870 X2 and CPU: Q6600 works perfectly since they came from my old rig.

could it be ram or motherboard which is causing the problem.

i bought a broken X38 P5E motherboard which had bent cpu pins in which i bent back, could be something to do with the pins not perfectly connected to cpu?

im going to run it all on default speeds again and see if it freezes again.

P.S. Dont bother spamming your problems in my threads.

change your PCI express setting from 100 to 103 or 105
then see if you get a black screen/standby screen in those games.

if you still do then its 1 of 2 things.

1: your psu has issues
2: your graphics card is running to high or it cant cope anymore with its stock settings.

hmmm

1 or 2 things could be wrong

psu or graphics card doesnt like its stock speeds anymore or is unstable at stock.

can you try your card in another system
as that would rule out the card, then all you need to check out is PSU next.
