Asking for a bit of help here as am out of my depth

Up till now I have used HP Workstations so no overclocking options just the pure grunt of multiple Xeon CPUs

Was going to get a used HP Z820 Workstation but instead went off in a totally different direction.

Ended up getting an Alienware Area 51 R2

Its configured with the i7 5930k CPU and the 3x GTX980s

Now I dont want to be pushing it to the edge I am wanting it 100% rock solid and reliable for work (Video Editing and Recoding).

But wondered if someone had any ideas for very conservative (Safe) Overclocks for a system like this and the best way to go about implementing it

Before you say it, yes the systems capabilities are probably going to be wasted on me most of the time, but I have it now so want to make the best out if it.. (And it was a darn sight cheaper than a HP Z820)

Well the gfx cards are easy. Download any app, I use Zotac firestorm and play with the sliders. The good news here is that you can't do any harm with the software so just play with the clock speeds and use a program such as kombuster to check stability.

As for the CPU well that's a whole different ball game and one that many people have written very advanced guides on. I am sure there are some 'Haswell E' recipes for Overclockable. 4Ghz on all cores should be very achievable.

I'd say 1400MHz on the core for your 980's and 4.2-4.4GHz on your CPU should be easily achievable - providing you have decent airflow through your case.

For GPU's you can use MSI Afterburner. For CPU I wouldn't use anything other than your motherboards BIOS.

Cheers

Airflow is good on the unit there is a good airgap on each GPU and the CPU watercool vents straight out the back

I am getting a nice solid 4.5 on all cores on the CPU..

Just after some help transferring the settings from the Alienware overclocking app to the BIOS now.

If anyone has any ideas I have started a thread with where I am stuck here..
