Whats the OC limit for an i7 920 @2.65 1366 with a be quiet fan, i've got it to 3.67 at the moment was wondering how much faster it could go before it craps its pants ?

I'm not sure of the performance of the Be Quiet fans, but I know that a lot of the D0 stepping CPU's can hit 4.0 quite comfortably.

Mine can hit 4.2 but I don't like the amount of voltage I have to put through it to get there. So I run mine @ 4.0 with 1.3000 in Bios (1.28 in CPUZ)

In all honesty, if you have to put a lot more voltage to get to 4.0 than what you are using now, then I wouldn't bother. 3.67 is a respectable OC and the performance gain you would get at 4.0 would be negligible.

If its a D0 stepping, 4 Ghz should be easy, just knock the BLCK up to 200 on a 20 multi with turbo disabled. On mine I was struggling keeping the thing cool at 4.2 (can't remember what voltage off the top of my head) using a corsair H50 water cooling kit, so ended up dropping to 4Ghz 24/7 as then the heat was manageable. So it depends how good your cooling is to a certain extent. I never really got the chance to test what my 920 chip could achieve with more butch cooling as when I changed from the H50 to custom water I also changed my CPU to a x990.

On good cooling you can comfortably push the voltage up to 1.35v by the way. As always in some ways it's not the voltage that's the issue, but the resulting temperature increase. Deal with the heat and it will be okay.

Just checked intels specs for the 920 and apparently the VID range is 0.800V-1.375V, so in theory up to 1.375 is still within specs.

Hey,
I'm a 920 user too,
I agree with Evil-I, I had it at 4.2 and dropped to 4 because of cooling issues (well technically it was heat that was the issue :P )
Clean case and good cooler & fans and 4.0 is easy to do, but you won't see a noticeable difference from where you are now.
