I have my 950 clocked at 4.38 GHz with the ram at 1900 MHz, I think the multi is 23 x 185 but the temps are way up on what I was expecting there sitting at 46c + and desperate to climb, I had a 920 C0 prior to this which was at 4.2 GHz and it sat at 36c idle and I thought the C0's were supposed to be the hot chips, the voltage is set to auto which it was with both chips (1.425v)which is quite high but why is the D0 stepping chip so much hotter than the C0 chip.....the ambient temps have been higher recently due to some very good Scottish weather but I have 2 x rads (1x 360 with 6 x noctuas push/pull and 1 x 160 with 2 x noctuas) that do just the CPU just now so the temps are normally good, I use mx-4 which I did on the 920 as well so would an extra 200 MHz on the chip and 250 MHz on the ram create this much extra heat? other 950 owners what do you have your chips running at and what multi's are you using please?

Can you try and set it up using manual vcore, from what ive seen on here though, 950's do run a bit warmer than 920/30's.

yeah I tried manual vcore of 1.4v and no post, dropped the ram settings a bit and it posted but not stable so tried 1.41v and pretty much the same so it needs the 1.43v ish..... just checked out some other threads and loads of people are talking about temps due to the mini heat wave so this aint helping plus I have just changed from distilled to EK coolant which upped the temps on the 920 4c so that aint helping.....pushing the memory aspect creates allot of heat it seems as well....would like to see what others are running there's at as there will be a sweet spot its just finding it....

just checked this at stock speeds and it ranges between 37c- 43c, going to give it a few days until weather is crap again and see what it says but this to me is way to hot

On my 920 im getting the following at 4.2ghz, 42-37-41-37, air cooled with a prolimatech supermega with dual akasa viper fans. My stock i7 930 is sitting at, 36-31-35-31, under a TRUE with a very poor xilence red wing 1400 rpm fan. Room temp is at 24c. Does indeed seem a bit hot for stock speed.

thanks for the info setter :)
I think I might reseat the block and see if that makes a difference, a few years back I had a hailea chiller in my loop which I sold for £100 (I bought it for that also) anyway im gutted ive sold it as id really like to use it again and I didn't realise what a bargain I had till now...that baby would have these temps right down, need to keep my eyes pealed for one I think

Sounds a bit better, ive ran p95 on the stock 930, it was hitting the high 60's, but the 920@ 4.2 will do this on a good cold day. Seriously need to sort some better fans for the 930 before i contemplate overclocking it, all i have to hand are the redwings and a couple of 140mm 1400 rpm yates which wont fit on the TRUE.
