overclocking like possible?

Sorry, been a while since I have overclocked. I just set me 2700k to 4.5ghz all seems good and stable. i notice though that my cpu is always running at 4.7ghz constantly. Is it possible for the cpu to run at a lower speed and when needed, ie gaming it would run at 4.7ghz?.. just so its not running at hot all the time

hope that makes sense........ I have a gigabyte motherboard by the way.

Set your Windows power settings to Balanced/Power Saver, it'll downclock the cpu when idle.
