Overclocking limit on 680i and options for mobo

I have an early revision EVGA 680i, i cant however seem to get it over 300fsb regardless of volts or what cooling i use, im also using high quality corsair well within its limits.

now im thinking of getting a new mobo to allow me to greater speeds, which one? i have a Q6600 currently at 2.67ghz, cant get higher stable using H20.
 
yes, i had an E6700 that did 3.6ghz in the board, thing is, i have seen people getting whopping big overclocks out of these quads, i refuse to believe its the chip or the ram.
