Never done it before, do you get much gain out of it?

I've currently got:

E6600 @ 3.2 (400x8)
P35c DS3R
4GB (4x1) DDR2 GeiL Ulta 6400 @ 800 (5-5-5-15)

Hello dokko, you could try overclocking your E6600 a bit further which in itself would start overclocking your memory. In all honesty though, just overclocking your memory, I would be surprised if you could notice the difference in day to day tasks. :)

Then i wont bother. Its stable so i should be grateful really.

1st time i'ver ever overclocked anything, had a right faff on getting this stable, thought it was my mobo, turned out to be faulty memory, and the reason why i;ve now got 4gb of the stuff due to RMA.

Its at 3.2 with stock volts, don't really want to push it any further, although i know this chip does 3.6 on air quite comfortably with a bit extra voltage.

Hey dokko, if you are happy with your overclock and the system performs all of the tasks that you do reasonably well then keep it as it is. :)

Yeah i suppose i am, could do with a bit more oomph when gaming, should really think about overclocking my 8800GTS 512, but i just bought it and i'm a bit scared of doing any damage since i've heard a few horror stories of pushing them already.

In my testing a while back, a good memory OC is worth from 2-5% in "some" tasks but not all. As noted, you won't see any significant gains until you get more CPU speed to make use of that extra memory bandwidth.

Maybe a couple of frames higher in games at the most but it's hard to notice. Why are you running 5-5-5-15 when it's capable of 4-4-4-12?

I dunno, i was told to.

:D

Should i set it at what you reckon? Would that make much difference and will that work ok for 4 sticks?

Only one way to find out :)

Try running some benchmarks to see the difference between 5-5-5-15 and 4-4-4-12, something like Everest or Sisoft Sandra will do.

Well i'm here!

4-4-4-12, although vista is now detecting a new device on start up.

Edit: Agh it was just my external having a paddy.
