I've been looking into overclocking well, all i can basically to further my knowledge and get the best performance out of my rig, i've established a stable overclock of 3.36 ghz on my Q6600 and now i'm looking to push my ram further.
I've read threads after threads but i'm not fully understanding them (that or my mobo is a pain and doesn't have the required settings) I've had a good look through my bios and i've found these settings:

Memory timings

DRAM Frequency: DDR2 743 / 891 / 1188

Memory Volts

This is all i can find to do with my memory am i missing some settings to push my memory abit further?

Any guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Think my mate has that board and the only way he could adjust the memory aws by adjusting the FSB/Memory ratio.

Memory volts will be useful, the Geil stuff runs at 5-5-5-15 at 2.20 volts. So if its running slower than that you could try tightening up the timings a little.

At the moment the stock that my memory is running at is 5-5-5-15 i've altered the volt to 1.9 at the moment, anything you could suggest towards tightening? still rusty on the whole concept.

Quite a few good guides posted around the web.

Up your vaults to the 2.20 its rated at then drop it to 4-4-4-15. See if it runs ok.

Always a good start.

Yeah seems to run stable at 4-4-4-15

Is there any program to monitor my memory? CPU-Z seems to show me the defaults only.

Use ORTHOS to stress the ram and cpu for a good few hours.

Changing it to 4-4-4-15 so recent I can't imagine you have fully tested its stability.

Next step for me would be 4-4-4-12 but thats only once I have fully checked stability. Overclocking happens over a week or so, not a day I'm afraid.

I'm aware it doesn't happen over night, i've spent the last week overclocking my cpu for a stable clock running prime time after time for hours on end (i finally set my mine on 3.35 when prime was fine after 6hours)

I'm just trying to get some 'more' background information before i actually properly try having a proper go, i've had my volts on 1.9 for a good fortnight now and seems absolutely fine.

Well I've recently learnt (check the Geil thread in the memory section)

That the Core2/Intel systems appreciate the higher FSB more than the tighter timings. If its worth slackening timings for even higher FSB I aint too sure yet. Gonna give some testing this weekend I reckon.

Also to add while I am here, sorry if I came accross as Patronizing, I thought you were after the very basics, couple that with me being at work while typing this means my answers aint as thorough as I would like :D
