Hey guys,

looking for some of your pearly wisdom to be honest, my system in my signature arrives today, wondering whether once I have it setup it would be wise to jump straight into overclocking or whether to just leave it stock for now?

ive never overclocked or even thought to in my life so wondering if theres any major guides around anywhere that go in depth or if anybody can help me out when I do get to that stage, and most important if there is any need to overclock it at the moment tbh?

before anybody states it i know im not getting the most benefit out of the GFX as my monitor is only 1080p 144hz rather than 1440p but i didn't have enough left in the budget and i game FPS a lot so i went for the option where i could max out all settings and still enjoy the game! as my current monitor was a ditsy 20" thing so the 24" will seem massive to me anyway! :)

oh you should also know my systems air cooled, and has a ACX EVGA CPU cooler, Black - 120 mm.

Dipping your toes into OC for the first time eh? :)

I'd suggest reading the stickies above for a good overview:

Note you'll be overclocking with the multiplier on that chip and not the FSB (see the part about Sandy Bridge K series, applies to your chip as well)

Keep a close eye on temps and go in small increments ensuring your stable before moving on.

Aim low to start so you can get a feel of the process and an understanding of how your cooling and system is behaving when applying more voltage and tweaks.

Good luck and have fun, I'm sure we can all help you through it :)

thanks man yeah ill definitely come back for suggestions from you guys if that's not too much too ask and ill give that sticky a read! :)
