Hey guys, Finally got my opteron 165 to stop bsod (so it would seem) so im now planning on overclocking it.

Ive got it running so far at everything stock but at a 210mhz setting.

As you can tell im quite new at overclocking.

Was wondering if you guys have got any guides or tips out there for me or what i can expect from this cpu. Im running it on a stock heatsink with gskill zx 2gb ram on a biostar tforce 6100m9 motherboard witha x1900xtx.

My case is quite cool.
2x120mm fans intake (front and side(over gpu)
1x120mm fan exhaust (read)
1x80mm intake (side over cpu)

What do i need to know or what settings will get this cpu to a reasonably safe oc without risk damaging it whilst i brush up on some advanced overclocking in the mean time.

Cheers for the help

you need to lock AGP & PCI setting, AGP=66mhz and PCI=33mh,

then drop the HTT multi 3x

put your mem on a divider (you can sort this out later if it can higher)

and then start cranking up the fsb by 10/20mhz

would be wise for you to fully read the sticky at the top on this page before doing anything tho, what i have given you is the basic but you need to have an understanding of whats doign what and how it will affect other things and thast what the sticky will do

u should be able to get to about 2.6 on stock heat sink, i would suggest getting a replacement as would allow a nice bit higher clock.

the voltages should not have to be much higher maybe increase by 3 notches from stock.

temps u want to keep below 50degrees 60 = max.

when u start increasing the clock remember to turn down the htt from 1000 to 800 then 600.

Ah cheeras for the help guys, just wondering though is there any software i can do this from within windows as my bios seems to be limited, i cant even find the cpu multiplie :s

Yeah i got the latest release but i still cant see where the dividers are. Only seems to be a lot of HT dividers and stuff but nothing with 9x which would indicate the multiplier.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Right looked around and found a bios that gives me a tonne more overclocking options with everything i need. I have just had a tinker with it but couldnt get something stable.

Lukcily enough its got a automated overclock and ive got it on the highest one which give me this.....
Automated Overclock
but i think the timings are a bit loose but is that just me.

I ve got the 4 main screens needed for overclocking but wasnt sure on what details to put in the fields so was wondering if u guys can help me out, maybe suggest some timings that should work and maybe if someone is kind enough is explain the obscure settings.

Overclock settings

Memory

Chipset Config

PC Health

Any help would be great, Thanks in advance.
