Overclocking my Q6600 problems?

Well can't seem to find the right VCore lol, tried 1.525, 1.53, 1.54, 1.55, 156 and none seem to work lol!

Anyway I have to go soon, got college tomorrow didn't see the time lol ;p, do you think we could continue this tomorrow?

Sure, no problem. Don't keep raising and raising vcore, it might just need a little tweak elsewhere, let me think about that one.

1.54 (1.47 during load) should be more than enough to get toward 3.6ghz. It will just depend if your chip and board are up to the task. Some do, some don't, its a case of trial and error.

EDIT - just a thought, but maybe it doesn't like the FSB over 400, so you could try this...

CPU RATIO - 9x
FSB - 378
CPU Vcore - 1.52
CPU PLL - 1.55
Northbridge - 1.35 (might need 1.4, but try 1.35 first)
FSB Termination - 1.25 (might need nearer 1.3, but try 1.25 first)

This again will get you running at or around 3.4ghz.

EDIT2 - do you have the optional cooling fan for the heatsinks that some of these motherboards came with? If so, get that hooked up as it will help keep things nice and cool. If not, it might be an idea to get some form of active cooling on there, as these things can seriously heat up when Priming.

EDIT3 - Did you get Asus PC Probe working, and if so, did it list temps for Northbridge etc?

EDIT4 - What Northbridge Strap (FSB to Northbridge) are you currently using?

Alright I'll leave it how it is for now and sort it tomorrow and let you think, thanks again for the help and speak again tomorrow

Right tried those settings, it didn't work =[, tried bumping the Northbridge up and also the FSB Term up to what you recommended and that didn't work either

Nope I don't THINK I have them could be wrong, bought the PC second hand, could you show me what you mean so I can get back to you on that?

Installing that will get back to you on that aswell ;) EDIT - Its got 1 temp showing for the CPU which is 19c and at load its 35c but not sure if thats it =]

Got it set to auto at the moment =]

No, it mustn't list the Northbridge temp as I would expect it to be 60+ at load.

The fan is a little turbine that sits on top of the heatpipe assembly, near to the CPU....

Okay, lets try this...

CPU RATIO - 8x
FSB - 425
CPU Vcore - 1.52
CPU PLL - 1.5
FSB TERM - 1.2

...it may just be that raising the PLL and FSB Term are counter productive at the moment.

Check what your RAM Frequency is showing in the bios. Is it definately stock DDR2 - 800?

Report back and we'll go from there.

EDIT - Can you post a pic of your BIOS screens so I know exactly what I am working from? I mainly need the one listing the voltages.

Didn't work, I'll take a pic soonish =], just watching a film :>

Can you fire up CPU-Z and tell me what setting your RAM is currently at?

Sure give us a sec

Just started it up and I think CPU-Z is really messed up lol, some things aren't showing about my CPU and it says its @ 3.6 GHz, on CoreTemp is says 3.2, also nothing shows up under ram just that I got 4096 MB of it ;o

Make sure you are using version 1.53 and click the Memory tab at the top.

EDIT - just a thought, before this thread gets loaded full of posts, how about just editing each others last post with the new info? All you need is a refresh and it should appear?

EDIT2 - the RAM settings look fine. So next thing to try...

CPU RATIO - 8x
FSB - 425
DRAM Frequency - DDR2-800 (lets try this rather than auto)
CPU Vcore - 1.52
CPU PLL - 1.55
FSB TERM - 1.25
Northbridge - 1.3 (might need 1.4, but lets try 1.3 for now)
Southbridge - 1.05 (might need 1.1, but again, try first)

Report back with results.

Diggsy,

You seem to be quite knowledgable, I was wondering if I could PM you/or post here or in a new post with a question. You seem to be the right kind of person to get an answer from, but I didn't want to hijack this post.

Yeah go ahead and post it up, might take a little while to respond though as I have to go out soon, but I will respond later :)

Right I downloaded it and reinstalled it

Uploaded pic thought it was easier =]

Edit: Yeah alright sure ;)

Edit2: Tried all of the above and didn't work, also thought I'd mention that I couldn't put DRAM Freq @ DDR2-800MHz only 850MHz

Ah, so the RAM is being overclocked when we raise the FSB. What other options were there? Only 850?

You know what, just keep on with new posts, at least then we can easily see if there has been an update. I will give one of the dons a shout later to remove all the older posts in the thread to tidy it up :)

Which would you prefer, post, this post or PM?

It's going to be later anyway because it's an OC settings question and I am at work so I don't have my settings to hand.
