After searching the forums, I can`t quite find the exact help i am looking for, so here goes........

New build as sig.

Having just changed over from a P4 northwood/AGP setup, I have been "left behind" a bit and I have no experience oveclocking the newer systems.

Once built, I installed XP etc. etc. and was well impressed. After reading many posts on here, I upped the FSB to 250 without problems. Everything else in bios is was set to auto. This gave me an extra 1K in 3D06.(Currently 10k)
Temps with coretemp & tat are around 30 idle and 40 load. The Noctua and case are clearly doing the job. :)

This has wetted my appetite, so the question is, what next? Clearly the FSB will go further, but what do i need to be careful of?

Do i need to lock down PCI/PCI-e frequencies like the old AGP systems?
Should i set my memory timings manually? I presume they will be in a kind of "safe" mode at the minute.
I would prefer not to mess too much with voltages at the minute if possible. (Boring i know:p)

Any help with tuning my system would be really appreciated. There just seems so many more bios options compared to my old P4PE, and I just need a little guidance.

I did post something similar in the CPU ramblings thread, but it got missed and I thought it may be better here in the OC section.

just need to watch your temps and stability of your system. Temps look nice at the moment so you shouldnt be too worried about giving it a little bit more vcore to achieve a higher fsb. You can run cpu-z to see what your memory timings are

Fairly simple TBH...

In bios go to the clocking menu & scroll down to the CPU menu & disable all the stuff in there...

Then go into the main clocking menu & disable both of the spread spectrums.

Always set your ram timings manually, but for clocking the CPU set them higher than stock.

Set the CPU PLL voltage to 1.6v max (try 1.45 or 1.5 first) & check the manufacturers website for the voltage settings for your ram.

PCI-E frequency to 105mhz

Then clock away... when u get stuck up the vcore by a notch & try again, each time watching temps - you should aim for a max of around 65deg under 100% load with that chip IMO
