Overclocking P5Q Deluxe / Q6600

OK, I seem to be hitting a brick wall at 3.6. I think my cooling could hold me back here.

Tried 3.6 (9 x 400) at 1.4625v. Failed on about the 8th pass of IBT. Temps hit 93 degrees on that run so I didn't want to try an up the voltage any further. VID of chip is 1.2875v.

So far, I have not adjusted LLC, PLL, NB voltage or FSB to Northbridge strap. All are currently set to auto. Because they're set to auto, I have no idea what manual entries I should make.

Is there any chance adjusting these could help with stress stability at 1.46v?? If so, any guidance would be appreciated.

Cheers.

What bios revision are you on? Some of the earliest were known to severely overvolt pll, nb, and fsb if left on auto or lowest manual setting. Same with ddr ram voltage, upto +0.08v, my reapers were rated at 2.1v, so i ran them at 2.02v. Best bios i found was ver 1406 for the deluxe. Try the following.

pll, 1.56
nb, 1.34
fsb term, 1.34
fsb-nb strap, 333mhz.
LLC enabled

The max reccomended voltages for theese are,
pll, 1.6v
nb, 1.4
fsb-term, 1.4

Mine was same VID as yours but on a p5q pro with that last 3rd party custom bios and load line calibration enabled make sure you have LLC enabled

Brilliant guys, thanks. It appears I'm on original BIOS. Might be my downfall. That might be step to far for my ability / comfort zone.

I'll have a play with the settings above and report back. Cheers.

Guys, thanks for all your help on this.

I made a couple of hardware changes in that I replaced my Tuniq 120 with an Antec Kuhler 620 and added 4GB (2x2GB) of OCZ Gold 8500 which I'm running at 800MHz. That coupled with the help here has got me 8 hrs prime stable at 3.6 at 1.49v. Trying again with 1.47v and all OK so far.

Max temps were 68 during Prime and 73 during 51 IBT passes. Can't believe what a difference the Kuhler has made, even with the compound to settle in. My Tuniq was hitting 93 in IBT at that voltage.

Thanks again for the help :D
