I am trying to overclock my CPU, but am not sure if i am doing it right

I changed the multiplyer from !7 to 18 and the voltage to 1.4

When the machine is idle the multiplyer is 4 and the voltage is 1.1

But it changes to a multipyer of 18 and a voltage of 4.5 at times

Is this correct:(

Thanks

Checked with CPUZ

Your cpu will throttle up and down with different loads yes, but are you sure about the voltage, 4.5v ?! What is giving you that reading?

It's being cooled by a "Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev.2 CPU Cooler" which keeps it about 40 degrees with max of 50 in the hot weather

Thanks for the info.

got the same cpu as you, mine runs x19 @ stock volts no probs = 3.8 ghz

what mobo you using ?

Motherboard is Asus M4N75TD, Will try stock voltage ( I assume you mean 1.3)

Thanks

I have set the voltage at 1.3 but the core voltage still shows app 1.46 on CPUZ
Is this correct?

I have set the multiplyer to 18.5 = 3700 but the core voltage goes up to 1.55. Is this too high?

cant really advise you on teh volts tbh , dont know much about it :(

but went in my mobo to have a quick around

basically my vcore hover around 1.392 - 1.408
cpu temp 39/40 c
mb temp 42 c

apart from my multiplier ive got everthing else set at auto . just out of interest are yoiu using latest mobo bios s ?

Thanks for the replies, I have flashed the latest bios. I have set the multiplier on 18 and left everything else on Auto and the Core voltage seems vary between 1.1 and 1.46 depending on load. I think i will leave it at that incase i break it.

Thanks

Just bear in mind you can hit a thermal wall before you hit a voltage wall with the PII. My CPU crashes at 3.7GHz and 1.45V, but not at 1.41V simply due to heat. Anything over 50C and overclocking potential is capped and over 55C don't expect the CPU to run without crashing.
