Got my E4300 yesterday and set all the parts up (Gigabyte DS3+2GB Patriot PC6400 ram). Installed a fresh copy of WinXP and everything went fine.

I decided i may aswell try my hand at overclocking since that was the main reason why i bought the E4300. I went into the bios and manually changed the timings and ram voltage to the rated 4-4-4-12 and 2.2v and set the divider to 2x. I then disabled the extra stuff that is not needed like Speedstep etc. I increased the fsb from 200 to 220 and restarted. However, the screen was blank and i could still hear the fans running. I restarted a couple more times and finally got into windows. I tried Orthos but it failed after about 30secs.

I lowered the fsb to 215 and it still didn't boot properly. I haven't tried increasing the vcore, just kept it at stock 1.325v. I haven't downloaded the bios from the Gigabyte website cause in CPU-Z it says that they are f10. I have tried losening the timings to 5-5-5-15 and it still causes problems.

Any ideas of what im doing wrong? It all seems to work fine at stock.

more vcore mate, try 1.37 first, and keep rebooting into bios, slowly moving the fsb up. Make sure you give the options near the vcore +.10, can't remember what they are called, one is fsb, and the other Gmch?

Oh, and in health, turn off the second from bottom option, this will result in the bottom option going off also. (fans)

Rightyo will do. Not at home at the mo so ill try when i get back. I have found a screenshot of my bios:

Is it pci-e, fsb, gmch and cpu voltage that i should give +0.1v to?

sweet thanks mate. Should i increase the vcore by +3.75v and just increase the rest of them by +1.0v?

Vcore to 1.37, your bios is the same as mine, and yes, .1 on the other setting.

My cpu needs 1.38 for 3.4 and 1.41 for 3.5.

Ahh i see. Bad math on my part there ;). I didn't think i would need to increase the vcore so soon in overclocking. I thought i could get up to at least 2.2GHz on stock voltage.

Ok i think i found out the problem when i was overclocking. For some reason my ram doesn't like to be greatly underclocked from 800mhz down to around 400mhz due to the 2x multiplier. I tested this using Memtest and it came back with a lot of errors. But when i upped the mulitpler to 3.33x with the ram running at 766mhz (fsb at 230mhz) it seems much more stable and have gotten no errors from Memtest or Orthos.
