overclocking q6600 problems

Hi there, just received my q6600 today.

problem is i cant get it orthos stable at 3ghz, tryed raising the voltage to 1.35 but doesnt seem to make any difference.

any other sugestions to make it stable, it fails in seconds

what other settings have you set? eg, Ram, set PCIE etc etc. what multipler are you using? abit more info would be greaT1 lol

pcie is at 100mhz,

ram is at 5:6 want to change is to 1:1 but cant see where to on p5q pro, got 4 1gb stick's now.

in cpu-z is shows the multiplyer on the cpu is flicking between 6 and 9, any idea why that is?

First thing is make sure your memory is not running above rated speed, simply increasing FSB will also increase mem speed, you need to lower the memory multi as well.

4 sticks of ram , you may need to up the voltage on the NB , the multiplier is moving because you have speedstep enabled and C1E enabled in bios

My Q6600 won't pass Prime at 1.35v at 3GHz, needs a little more, something like 1.365 can't recall the exact value. Not all chips do 3GHz at low vcore.
But, as other people have suggested, it is equally likely that there is a problem elsewhere - memory timings, memory voltage, speed etc

I had a Q6600 that wouldn't pass Prime95 at 1.35 BIOS had to set it to 1.3825 the trouble with this chip is it won't pass Prime at 1.55 BIOS either... I think you may have a bad chip

they are just power saving features , it will increase the multi back to 9 when the extra speed is needed so its up to you if you wanna save the envinroment leave them on , if ya dont disable them...

what vid rating is the cpu,mine was 1.3250(highest)and had to have 1.51v thur it to boot into windows but then failed prime str8 away..
