Greetings all...;)

OKAY i have done my first over clock on my PC i5 750 2.66MHz today but when i load up my PC the fan keep going and is loud.

I only adjusted three things on my PC but i did not touch the core vaults.

Base clock from 133 to 166 making it 3.2 MHz.

Core ratio on Auto running at 20

Memory Ratio 8 running at 1600MHz

After i did these changes my CPU-Z Readings were.

Max 99oC Low High Load

0 37oC 36oC 36oC 6%

1 31oC 30oC 40oC 3%

2 39oC 38oc 44oC 2%

3 33oC 22oC 41oC 0%

My core voltage was going between 0.952v-1.128v..This is how it was before any overclocking so i did not touch the cvolts.

After 20 mins the reading changed and the fans went into hyper mode constantly.

Max 99oC Low High Load

0 63oC 59oC 64oC 100%

1 61oC 55oC 64oC 100%

2 63oC 58oC 63oC 100%

3 61oC 56oC 63oC 100%

Is this normal because the fan would not stop until i reset back to defaults?

99 is a bit high! The temperatures will increase as you overclock more.

Which CPU cooler do you have? If you get a better one, you may be able to keep your new overclock and keep the temps down.

For example, I have my Scythe ninja cooler and at 3.4 ghz, my temps are 60, however, with the intel stock cooler, my temps are around 100

I don't think he reached 99C max, something odd in that layout of data, his temps appear to hit 63C max.

As for the fans, i there a BIOS setting where it increases fan speed above a certain temp?

This is right..

I can increase my fan speed through the Alienware FX system but i don't think their is anything in bios.

Is 100% load bad then?

Not sure what you're asking.

You seem be saying after a period of using the computer the fans increase in RPM, therefore noise increases.

This sounds like a normal feature whereby when the temperature increases, so does the RPM of the fans in an effort to move more air and cool the heatsink/case down.

If you don't want the fans to become noisy you'll have to either manually set the fans in the BIOS not to increase with temperature, you might be able to do this with software. But be warned, limiting the speed of the fans, especially in pre-built machines, may cause temperatures to rise to potentially undesirable levels.

Im pretty sure the OP used CoreTemp to measure his temps, and the 99degs referred to is the Tj. Max.

For some reason CoreTemp puts this above the actual temps of the cores, it is a static value and has no bearing on the actual temps of the cores and windows auto shuts down at this value anyhow.

if you have fan control software then the fan speed could be adjusted through this, if you think there is a fault with this or it is not working as you would want, you could download SpeedFan (probably have to uninstall your other program), this will control and monitor all your fans hooked up to your motherboard, it is a good program and there are plenty of guides how to use it.

edit: as for your temps they seem OK for a stock/small aftermarket cooler at stock speeds and I would expect at 60+ degrees that all CPU related fans would be at 100% (how I'd have it set anyhow)

hope this helps
