Overclocking voids what warranties?

My spec is in my sig. I'm considering overclocking, but I'm not entirely sure what warranties will be voided by doing so. I know the CPU warranty will be kaput, but I'm not sure about the graphics card or RAM. Any one know what BFG / OCZ's policies are?
 
I'm not even sure companies can actually check to see if an item has been overclocked?
 
I spoke to Intel technical support about the high temps with my Wolfdale 8500, they told me that if the Cpu was OC then they could tell if the Cpu was ever returned under warranty. Said there was a small chip on the Cpu that recored the highest speed it had been set to ??
 
There no way to tell if anything has been overclocked as long as your smart, So no voltmodding boards, removing stock cooling, Flashing custom BIOS's into cards ect ect, The thing that voids most manufactures warrantys is physical damage to the item so no sticking your fingers in the CPU socket or snapping of stat ports :)
 
When you physically modify a motherboard to give you more voltage or more control over voltage. Could involve simply linking up two areas with a pencil, or adding actual components to the board.
 
Ah right, thanks. Definitely not something I'd ever consider then.

I'm away at the moment, but I think I'll consider trying to OC my E8400 when I get home. I've had a read through the E8XXX overclocking thread (until it turned into spam :() and it seem that a reasonable 3.6-4.0 isn't out of the question for my setup.
 
I have a E8400 and Ive clocke it to 3.6. I dont see the point of going any further cos all my games fly with the E8400 at stock speeds, plus I got 12secs on 1M in superpi at 3.6, so im more then happy leaving it at 3.6.
 
Question for you Speedy (or anyone else with a clocked E8400 and Vista): Does the Windows Experience Index go up from 5.7 if you clock the chip? It's just bugging me that that only thing that's stopping my getting a 5.9 overall is the CPU :)
 
edit: Sorry I miss read your post, my e8400 at 3.6 gives a 5.8 rating, I think you need a quad cpu to get 5.9, or a very fast dual cpu.

My E8400 is OC to 3.9 on stock cooler and standard voltages. IIRC my WEI is 5.9 for the CPU.

Apart from some probs with temp reports it's a blinding chip, well happy with it.

I guess the only way to know exactly what warranties are voided is to contact manufacturer/check manuals (small print!)
