Overclocking with ATI Tool

Just trying to work out the best way for using the auto tools on ATI Tool, should you do the GPU clock auto, then write the setting down and reset it to default before doing the memory one? Or vice versa?
The idea is doing them individually, so that the changes made to GPU wont affect the auto finding for the memory.

Then set both to the values you wrote down.

Could however, the combination of two highest be unstable because they didnt take into account the overclocking done to the other setting?

I would do it manually. ATi Tool has been known to go too high. Just edge up til you get around 820/900 on your 2900XT. That should be stable. After that move up in 5mhz on the core checking for artefacts for 30secs~ each time. Once you see artefacts drop back down 5mhz (I think it's more like 7-8mhz jumps with the 2900XT) and scan for 2 minutes. If you get artefacts then drop it down another notch and try again. If not then write that down. Set your core back to 820 and then do the same for your memory. Once you have a stable memory speed write that down too. Try them both at once with a 5min artefact test. If it seems okay at that point you're pretty safe. Personally I like to leave an artefact test going for around 30min after I overclock like that just to make sure. Haven't had one drop out after 5 min on me though.

You might look to put some more voltage through the card if you can find out how. You won't be overheating with your new watercooling setup ;)
