Hi all.

This is a strange one and I have never come across this before.

Basically I have my X2 3800+ overclocked to 2.4ghz on stock volts.

If I try for 2.6ghz I get an error on boot up of:

The file: C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or currupt.

EH?

As I understood it if you overclock the system too far it just crashes / freezes. I have never come across this before.

I can't see how adjusting just the clock frequency can do this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

unstable overclock = corrupt data that the cpu is outputting...
could up the vcore or htt vcore if thats possible on your board.

Still get it regardless of volts.

I havn't fiddled with the memory at all. It is PC4200 (533mhz (266x2) and is running 1:1 with my FSB.

stick a divider on your memory just to rule it out..

its corruption mate..common overclocking *****...........if the downclock dont help it then boot from the windows xp disk..hit recovery console and then type chkdsk /p or chkdsk /r

this will sort it all out

failing that slave it to another windows installation and all will be tikkety boo

mad andy

No swearing.

Gilly.
