Overconsuming salt?

I'm scottish, so the use of salt on my food goes without saying.

However I would totally recommend using Sea Salt crystals (e.g. maldon sea salt) not the 'rocks', but the flaky crystal stuff, rather than 'table salt'. The difference is night and day. Chips. potatoes , salads, everything tastes much better with proper salt. Plus you use less of it as well, and it's 100% salt, not salt with added crap to stop it lumping up etc. Table salt tastes pretty rank after a while.

Also, check out the smoked salt that they do - that stuff is freaking amazing.

It does sound like you are having too much salt -2cans of beans in a day!

Most pre packaged/ pre processed foods are loaded with salt so try and avoid them, or at least avoid having multiple servings of that type of food in one day -or even in one week.

If you avoid processed foods then there is no harm in putting salt on your food -unless you are a maniac you are unlikely to exceed a healthy rda.

I never add salt to anything I make or prepare, just learned to live without it and tbh dont miss its taste, had some fries form Mcdoanlds and was ill from the amount of salt but its all about being active and eating right.

My dad had a heart attack at 58 and it makes me think wow, step back, look what you are eating, I have stopped eating process food but never was a big fan, i use to eat KFC etc. just eat home cooked food, meats and veg, salads and fruit and cereal, have the odd takeaway.

Salt is in no way bad unless you go absolutely maniacal with it.

People's bodies will obviously react differently, but for the average person shoving a decent amount of salt "to taste" in your daily meals won't cause you any harm.
