After playing a bit of WoW then some Crysis:WH i noticed my temps were a little high on gpu-z. gpu was up to about 70/90 and my VDDC temps were around the same, althou i have seen them reach 100+. all other temps were around 70 to 90 aswell...

after some rearanging of my case and adding 2 fans im still getting stupidly high temps... recently ive noticed my cards idle temps have been higher than usual. i idle around 60/65 but fan speed has increased from 40 to 55+

any insight into what this might be, as my case is up on my desk and has good ventilation.

Thanks in advance for any replies

K, i did some more tests and i have some figures

After 5 minutes of WoW these are my temps, (all temps in celcius and taken from GPU-Z)

GPU : 88
GPU (DISPIO) : 87.5
GPU (MEMIO) :91.5
GPU (SHADERCORE) : 84
VDDC Slave #1 Temp : 94
VDDC Slave #2 Temp : 95
VDDC Slave #3 Temp : 95
??? Slave #1 Temp : 95
??? Slave #2 Temp : 90

fan speed is about 85 and never seems so go above...

also note i haven't overclocked the card

that seems rather high, considering the game you are using, its up to you reset the cooler or RMA, if you take the reset option but it back on properly and change the thermal past and warranty will be void

I have two sapphire onces @50% they never reach that high

changing the thermal paste had crossed my mind but i dont really want to void my warrenty.

just did 60 seconds of furmark and temps were

GPU : 98
GPU (DISPIO) : 93
GPU (MEMIO) :94
GPU (SHADERCORE) : 86.5
VDDC Slave #1 Temp : 114
VDDC Slave #2 Temp : 113
VDDC Slave #3 Temp : 113
??? Slave #1 Temp : 101
??? Slave #2 Temp : 96

now i know this is stressing the gpu more than the average game would but ive never seen temps as high as these when doing any benching...

I have the same predicament as you, but with a GTX280. Temps go up to 98 using Furmark. I'm going to reseat the heatsink tomorrow, hopefully i can put it back correctly O.o.

Your temps are ment to look like this, i would RMA or replace the thermal paste.

Tell me how you get on.
I think im just gonna RMA, and thanks ViRuS2k for your temps. Just goes to show how hot mine is actually runnning.

Either the stock XFX coolers are shocking or it's a faulty card.

My Asus at 30% fan speed and when I played wow the temps never went above 70c.

I would personaly RMA the card, never know you might get one the new shiny Zalman cooler versions.

I just did it. Reseated the heatsink with AS5 and cleaned out all the gunk from the fans. Temperatures probably dropped around 5C using furmark but that's without letting the TIM settle (whatever you call it). I'm quite happy, it's still hot but not bad for an hours work. I would have expected a little more because there was a load of gunk and you wouldn't believe the amount of TIM that I had to clean off.

Well the XFX cards all have the crap reference cooler on them but yeh the Zalman cool'd versions do look like they would do a better job. Shame they were standard when i bought mine, can only hope i get one of the new ones. Even thou knowing my luck i'll get one worse then mine :(

Ive been quite careful with mine and trying to keep it as dust free as possible not that its seems to have helped...

well, I had a sapphire that got hot under load and very loud so I would say RMA if you can :(
