Overkill PSUs

Of course! Which is why I would get the PSU now so that I dont need to get one down the line and have wasted a perfectly good 750 - 850W PSU

You'll probably need more than a 1000w for 4 high end cards with a 2011 cpu (and overclocking). Are you really sure you're going to get 4? Not many people do even if they think they will :D

I have a 1kw enermax PSU and it was quite loud, because the fans was a big powerfull thing made to cool the PSU at full load, but since im only running 1 GPU i had to replace it with quieter much less powerfull fan which now runs silently. If ya decide on a high watt PSU ide ask around on the forum first to make sure it runs quietly if ya bothered about keeping ya rig silent.

How old is that PSU? that isn't usually an issue as modern PSU's have PWM fans which run at variable speed according to load/temp, some even stop the fan when they running at low load/temp.

True. Actually read somewhere that titans alone will need 1000W and with a 2011 it would be safe to go with 1600W.
I have the money to go quad 680 but I have to sort out my "aesthetics" of my build which is why ill do it in the next generation or two.

1000W for tri-sli / tri-xfire. 1200W or more for quads. Then you are looking at at least a £3K-£4K budget with a good motherboard and CPU, and watercooling.

So really, unless you are completely committed from the start, it's useless. I'd stick with dual cards, and a 750W / 850W PSU.

The AX1200i which I have is made by Flextronics, Mine doesn't suffer from coil whine but that's not to say it doesn't exist on this range / the AX1200i.

I have the corsair AX1200i psu and have no coil whine, infact if you read the reviews on it, its the best PSU corsair have to date. voltage drop and ripple is better than its predecessor the AX1200 which i think is a seasonic rebadge. although iam not 100% certain on that.

great PSU the AX1200i 104amps on the 12v rail and platinum rated.
