Right this is a strange one..recently my overclock is no longer being applied or working, Everything is set in the bios to run at 3.00ghz, everything enabled and everything checks out perfectly, yet it never applies itself
I can change the timings on the ram and they apply and seems to work..i really dont know how to explain it better, other than my motherboard/bios is totally ignoring any overclock settings on the CPU.

E6300
Gigabyte DS3 965P Rev 1 - F13 bios.
Geil 800mhz 2gb ram - current timings 4,4,4,12 voltage up 0.3 to make them happy.
Quick screenshot of CPUID, dont know if it helps..

I know this might sound weird but have you reset to optomised defaults. Then go into CPUz see what happens.

Restart the thing and overclock the bios once again see what happens like that.

Done that, same thing still happening..got me confused as the ram timings and voltage will change, yet the cpu clocks wont change, but the voltage will.
Totally confused.

Anyone have any ideas?

tat also says the same as cpuz, everest also says the same thing as cpuz..but all the settings in bios indicate its clocked, yet it doesnt seem to apply fully.

Also disabled all that thermal guff, where it drops the clocks or whatever, still same thing. starting to think maybe the mobo has gone..ill try re-flashing the bios to f13.

Do you have an external drive connected? I have a Gigabyte and when Im using my external USB HDD it wont apply the overclock.
It will go to boot, switch off, then start up again with the overclocking features disabled. So if you take out the drive, then restart without it, it will work fine, and you can switch the drive back on in windows.

I say you take out current drive and reinstall to a totally different drive. See if that does it. If it does you are sorted.

BTW you sure you haven't got any overclocking gigabyte software running?

Done a quick skim read, have tried a lower overclock ie 2.5ghz or 2ghz and see what CPU-Z reads

Alright, ive done a full format - reinstall to rule out any 3rd party apps controlling the clocks, ive tried different clock speeds, ranging from 2.0 to 2.8 and ive also re-flashed the bios to stock, then to F13 again...and nothing.

Voltages and Memory timings will change and actually apply themselfs, but setting any CPU clocks and it totally ignores them, also as i said above ive disabled all Thermal controlling stuff so its not that either. The only thing i can think of is the mobo is broke, or is on its way out..if anyone else has any ideas, feel free to pass them on.
Take into account this computer was running at 3ghz stable as a rock for 7 months

Edit/ Something i just noticed, when at stock, i.e nothing changed, on the post screen it will say e6300 @ 1.86ghz (266x7) But when i change the bios to overclock to 3ghz (which is 430x7) the post screen then reads e6300 @ 1.87 (267x7), so it is indeed totally broke i suspect, although im not 100% sure what caused it to, As normally when its overclocked it reads e6300 @ 3.01ghz (430x7)
Any thoughts on the above behaviour from our resident expert overclockers?
