Overlocking 8800GT

i have downloaded rivatuner and am considering overclocking my gainward 8800GT

i have run 3dmark06 and played 45mins of CoD4 with all settings on max and the temp peaked at 75

so it leaves me with a few Q's

will i need to use an after market cooler if i want to overclock?

will my temps increase?

is it really worth over clocking?

I would say those temps seem fine, since traditionaly graphics cards have been able to handle quite high temperatures. But a new cooler would be a good idea if you dont like the thought of your card running near boiling point

Also, my overclocked 8800GT idles around 55c on a standard cooler.

Shauncr91 how how is it at load? mine with stock cooler, modded bios so it runs at 1.1V or whatever it is and 700/1800/1000 I get around 95 degrees load in TDU @ 40% fan.

You can get some decent gains, I run at 700/1750/1000 and thats not maxing out my card, mines a Gainward but with the larger dual slot cooler.

i lose all warranty if i overclock tho ye?

what if i just increase the fan speeds?

Overclocking does void warranty, however I wouldnt worry about it really. As for fan speeds, I would highly doubt that changing fan speeds would cause your warranty to be void, however dont quote me on that.

Is that the single or dual slot kind? i'm considering the dual but wondering if the temps are any better.

Overclocking does void warranty, however I wouldnt worry about it really. As for fan speeds, I would highly doubt that changing fan speeds would cause your warranty to be void, however dont quote me on that.

Even after overclocking you can still get a replacement card through warranty and on those cards that are pre overclocked to like 700 on the core I dont think warranty is void on them if you clock it more. Dont EVGA let you overclock without voiding the warranty?
