Overly hot 9700k

update: its been 3hrs at this point and the rad is still exactly the same temp as when I started, peak temp of 90c package, so I still can't see a good transfer of heat from the die to the rad. I'm going to re mount it after dinner or tomorrow with a lot more paste (going to have to use my M4 as i'm almost completely out of my kryonaught).

Not sure how to send a photo on the phone but I put a fair amount of paste on my last application and after removing the block it barely spread at all, so definitely not enough mounting pressure... last time I tightened then beyond fingertight so not sure how to apply more pressure tbh, and I am definitely using the right standoffs. This time I tightened them a little more with pliers, maybe there was a slight gap between the motherboard bracket or something. Will update if I see different temps

Well holy hell. I'm using the basic arctic m4 stuff, used a ton more than last time, not sure if anythings actually different with the standoffs but omfg the temps are better. Same exact settings in bios, fan curve to 100% as before and my idle is 25-30c vs 30-40, and the same test giving me 88-90c is at its hottest of 72c but staying as low as 64c!

I'll leave it running for a bit and see if my rad gets hot but either way this is a huge improvement

Beyond happy with the temps so ill leave it now but rad still doesnt get anywhere beyond warm. I've set the pump to 50% and all chassis fans to the lowest RPM and the temps are exactly the same, so I can have a silent system at full workload and have good temps :)
