Overnight charge issue

Can't believe people are using their phones. Don't you know what that does to the battery?
I’ve no issue with using your phone as much as you like, which obviously affects the battery long term, like I say you can get a new iPhone 14 battery fitted for £93 here at Apple so no reason to refrain from using it.

I just don’t need to use it, at home I have my iPad Pro connected to gigabit Fibre via WiFi and my PC connected by CAT 6 if I need it. I’ve got two phones an iPhone 14 Pro Max and a Samsung Galaxy A34 5G they’re mainly for receiving calls, iMessages and texts. The Samsung with Android Auto in my car as it doesn’t support CarPlay.

I don’t want some ****** dumb phone, the reason why I started this thread is because my battery was draining faster in standby than it used to, I knew it wasn’t the battery as that has 98% health.

I came here looking for answers but managed to find the solution myself, place the phone near to a window and/or set it to 4G. Only thing I’ve got to watch out for the phone overheating as it shouldn’t be in an ambient temperature above 35C.

I didn’t come here for people to tell me how to use my phone or that I don’t really need one.

Being diplomatic, if you use your phone a lot, if you make calls regularly, if you game, type up notes, watch pornography...Whatever, it's going to take a toll on your hardware - especially in the new paradigm of planned obsolescence that we live in. I appreciate your concern, and would point out that apple support are usually very kind and tolerating in doing diagnostics with you - but ultimately, things age, and the battery is definitely a pain point; it's why I argue in favour of easily changable batteries. It might be worth taking it to a repair shop to see if they feel it's worth swapping out for a genuine part if it's worrying you?

If not my friend, lay back, ride the wave and get your hair wet...But remember to carry a magsafe battery with you during the day.

It’s all good, now go about 11 days in standby before needing a charge, that’s with WiFi and Bluetooth turned on. Lose about 7% a day and my battery is at 98% health.

Solved my problem, which was charging it on a Friday and it getting low by the following Tuesday without me using it. Wouldn’t have a complaint with charging it every four days if it had heavy use, in fact that would be great.

My iPad mini does most of the work my iPhone would otherwise do and I’m charging that more often.

I do pretty much the same with my iPad pro; I'm never without it really, so I keep the apps installed on my phone to a minimum and use my iPad to read, sign, do all the business - and it's much better for my eyesight. lol

I bought the iPhone in November 2022 before my iPads and my Samsung Galaxy A34 so at one time all I had was the iPhone. No point selling it as I don’t need the money and would rather keep it even if it doesn’t get much use.

My Samsung Galaxy A34 is now my main phone and has my main number in it. That gets a bit more use for phone calls as I stick £5 in a month to get unlimited local calls and 5GB data.

I won’t be upgrading the iPhone I’ll probably get a better Android phone in the future instead. I’ve moved over to Android because my car only supports Android Auto.

What I like about iPhone is iMessage and FaceTime but I believe my iPads cater for that as well. I’ve also got an Apple Watch connected to the iPhone via Bluetooth as it’s the non ultra version without LTE.

So I need my iPhone to keep track of health from Apple Watch hence why Bluetooth is always on.

It would be interesting to see how a phone with an extreme edge case use profile like yours holds up against one with more typical use.

Perhaps you could warm it up occasionally by using it to record your tyre tread depths? :D
