Just done a fresh install of Win. 7, downloaded all teh drivers and all the usual stuff. I'm using a HDMI cable so i was going to get some overscan issues. So i go into CCC and go into scaling options and slide the slider-thing up to 0%. Click apply and i restart. Ive got a black border around my moniter when i boot. It last about 10-20 secs and then the screen goes full, 1080p. Why is this happening?Ok found this http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...-restart-issue I have to make a new dword. Is it this "DigitalHDTVDefaultUnderscan" = dword 0x0000 or this "DigitalHDTVDefaultUnderscan" and i obviously get rid of the " don't I?

Go with 12.4 drivers much better than 12.6. This bug was in all the 12.6 betas and why they never fixed it for 12.6 release is crazy.
Its not like they cant miss it either, it happens on every start up. You can do the registry fix or each time your pc boots open CCC under advanced settings, Click Desktop Management and then creating and arranging desktop and just click detect. That will then fill the screen normal.

I un-install in control panel, the restart once asked. I then run a program called driver sweeper http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ it will ask to restart again, once booted back up install the gpu driver.

DriverSweeper can sometimes cause more problems.

Best way of doing is:

1) Uninstall the AMD software in Control Panel
2) Once this is done, uninstall the AMD driver through Device Manager. You will need to restat after this.
3) Manually delete any AMD folders in program files.
4) Install the new AMD drivers.

Not had any issue with it. All it does is remove amd left overs, it dont touch anything else. So how can it cause problems?

Sometimes it deletes other things that are related to the VGA drivers. Because of this it causes problems with a lot of people. However this seems to usually be for those who's swapping from AMD to Nvidia or vice versa, although there are also a few people who don't meet any problems at all. I guess since he's on the same card and simply just changing drivers, OP will be fine using it.

Yer good point, I haven't changed from Amd to Nvidia on this system. I'll keep that in mind for if I do thanks.

What does overscan do ?

expands the screensize to fit your monitor and get rid of black borders around the edge
