Overwatch

Just defended Dorado in quick play.

My team went 6x Torbjorn.

Even after I switched to Pharah after a bit, and someone went McCree so we had a mere 4 turret building dwarves, the opponents were so unbelievably salty. Never have I been so abused in chat. Glorious. Restored my enjoyment no end.

I'm the opposite to you guys. When I queue with friends it's sort of a resignation, like "oh well I guess I'll regain this rank I'm about to lose later when I soloq". I've had most success soloq'ing when it comes to gaining ranks.

I guess it depends if you have a good group, no offence to you and your friends. :) When grouped you are matched against other groups so if they're decent and organised you are going to struggle, when you play on your own its pretty random who you'll end up with but at least its the same for both teams.

SEASON 1 REWARDS

If you completed your placement matches during Season 1, you will eligible to receive a special spray and player icon. These will be unlocked automatically when you log into your account the first time after the season ends. If at any point during the season you managed to break into the Top 500 players on your platform (and in your region), you’ll receive an extra player icon and animated spray on top of the other seasonal rewards.

Aside from sprays and icons, you’ll also receive a number of Competitive Points based on the maximum skill rating you achieved during the season.

Here’s the Skill Rating (SR) to Competitive Point (CP) breakdown for Season 1:
SR 0-39: 10 CPs
SR 40-45: 20 CPs
SR 46-49: 40 CPs
SR 50-52: 60 CPs
SR 53-55: 80 CPs
SR 56-59: 120 CPs
SR 60-64: 200 CPs
SR 65+: 300 CPs

Just reached 68 this morning. Played with a few top 500s. Not much between them and the 70s tbh as far as I can tell. Glad to know I've got the maximum reward already now it's just trying to get to 70 for self kudos!

My new G900 is definitely helping.

I was just happy to get to 50 after being in the low 40s for so long, though I've not really worried about it to much, which is just as well as some games can be annoying enough without stressing over my rank.

much better games after work today - very chilled, played better as a result.
I'm getting better with DPS - always gold on damage/kills/obj kills and usually high on obj. time (no point killing the enemy if you don't move the payload!)
Still seems easier to carry as a healer. Tank I still suck.

If anyone is still trying to get a group together - UncleRufus#2104 - I've got a bunch of randoms and other friends on Bnet as well so can't guarantee I'll always be able to play but the more the merrier, right? :p Was at 53 yesterday but after a magnificent 7-game losing streak am now just below 50 again :(

Very odd situation today.

Lost a match in overtime on route 66 when the payload was mere inches from the last point, which cost us the game

However there were 2 of my team mates alive and literally on top of the payload when the 'defeat' message came up. Suffice to say there were lots of expletives from everyone.

Anyone had that before?

Had an invite to be a nominee to represent UK in the Overwatch World Cup at BlizzCon. Pretty exciting stuff, there will be a voting thing happening soon

Congrats! The voting process sounds interesting.

Only rank 71? Damn. Here I am sitting at 70. Nice to think that I am potentially nearly as good as people being nominated to to that sort of stage! :D

I played my first 'ranking' match in competitive.

Before it started, someone on our team went AFK to sort his dog out. Came back 2 rounds later. Seemed really surprised by the negative reception he got.

9 more to go, hoping I can scrape ~50.

Afterwards, I went over to quick play and had a real blinder. Defending Dorado, I played Pharah with a really good Mercy healing me. It got to the point where the enemy team were asking in chat if I (by name) would stop playing so they could leave the spawn. When their McCree finally offed me, they all cheered him. Really good spirited match too.

You get kicked for 1 minute of inactivity, so I highly doubt this.
